Be sure to ask your home inspector these questions

When buying a home, you can never trust what the seller tells you. Even though you have access to a disclosure, it doesn’t mean it is completely accurate. This is why you need to hire a home inspector to provide more information on the property.

While you can trust your home inspector to do a good job, it doesn’t mean you should sit back and watch the process unfold. You need to get involved. You need to ask questions.

Here are some of the top questions to ask your home inspector:

  • Do you see anything that requires immediate attention? Some problems are worse than others. For instance, there is a big difference between a loose step and a cracked foundation.
  • Would you purchase the home? This is a great question, as it helps you better understand the home inspector’s overall view of the property. If this person wouldn’t purchase the home, you may want to rethink your decision.
  • Who can I turn to for repairs? You may be surprised to find that your home inspector can provide you referrals for almost anything that needs repaired.
  • Can you provide me with more information? If your inspector comes across something that requires a repair, ask for more information and advice. Most people are more than happy to verbally share their feedback.

These are just a few of the many questions that you will want to ask your home inspector. Any others that come up along the way should also be brought to the forefront. This is a big purchase and you want to do whatever it takes to protect yourself.
