Small business owners often double as debt collectors

Are you a small business owner? If so, you know one thing to be true: You wear many hats. While there is nothing wrong with this, it goes without saying that you could run out of time at some point. This is particularly true if you have a variety of important tasks on your plate.

No small business owner wants to act as a debt collector, but this is something you may find yourself doing at some point in the future.

Once you deliver a product or service, you expect the invoice to be paid based on the terms and conditions of your agreement. If for any reason this doesn’t happen, you need to look into your options for collecting the debt.

In some cases, all it takes is a phone call or email in order to push your customer into paying. Other times, however, people aren’t as responsive. In this case, you may need to take legal action in order to collect the money that is due to you.

At our law firm, we take great pride in helping small business owners collect the money that is due to them. We know that this can be a frustrating situation. We also know that there are things you can do to get paid in full and in the near future.

We always suggest to our clients that they attempt to reach an amicable solution with their customer. When that doesn’t work, we make it known that there are a variety of legal options to pursue, each with the idea of having the debt paid without any further delay.
